Engel in Altensteig

Great pizzeria with a friendly hostess!

Bad service I ate at Engel on October 6th, 2020 in the evening with some family members. I noticed the Engel's landlady on previous visits there because of her unfriendly behavior. This has also been confirmed this time. It started when I ordered a water that I wanted room temperature, i.e. not chilled. She said she didn't. She would bring the bottle and place it on the table. It'll automatically warm up. After a follow-up from me, I felt quite annoyed, then brought a bottle and asked if the temperature was okay. It was because it was obviously not out of the refrigerator. The next upset came when my friend wanted to vary his pizza, preferring a few fresh tomatoes on the pizza instead of tomato sauce. At first she said it wasn't possible. A little later she said that it was possible. When his pizza arrived he asked for a spicy oil to season. She didn't, she called over. Overall, the landlady spread an extremely unpleasant mood. She seemed more like a sergeant to me. No way, the customer is king. My spaghetti napoli tasted good, although the spaghetti wasn't all dente. The others around the table also praised their food. The restaurant is nicely decorated. It is praiseworthy that it wasn't too loud either. The usual background music was not playing, which made it difficult to chat at the table. The location of the restaurant in the old town is also nice. I will still not visit the restaurant again. I no longer want to do this unfriendly landlady to myself, who has often struck me as unpleasant from previous visits there.

Good food and friendly service.

After a long time we were in the corner again and of course in the Engel for pizza. Very tasty as always and the boss is a great personality too! Stay like this and so on. We would love to come back.

Long waiting times and not entirely Italian cuisine ... the meat cuts a lot. Prices hardly match the quality. Staff seems very overwhelmed ....

The pizza was super crispy. Overall we were very satisfied.

Pizza is fantastic and second to none. The noodles were delicious too. Service a bit slow, but it was also due to the fact that the boss currently has a handicap, but is only temporary.

The pizzas are really great in terms of taste! I have to deduct a star, due to the longer waiting time in the service ... is generally always like that, but the taste of the food compensation for this then :)

A restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere and good Italian food on the edge of the Altensteig old town. In summer you can sit outside well. The landlady needs getting used to
